Industrial CASE research awards provide one to three years of training for a postgraduate research student on a project defined by an industrial company.
CASE students work with the company and an appropriate university department to solve a genuine industrial problem defined by the company.
They are different to most studentships in that they are initiated and defined by the company, with the intention of developing a technology or resolving a problem.
Companies that have previously been involved in CASE projects have benefited significantly from their collaboration with an academic institution. In particular they are able to access the knowledge, equipment and support of the academic institution in relation to their industrial project.
RTC North as the CASE agent for the North East has the role of selecting research projects suitable for EPSRC support. Projects are selected according to their industrial relevance, the quality of training provided for the postgraduate student, and the projects’ potential for increasing the wealth of the region.
Applications should be submitted by the 28th May 2010.
A decision on successful applications will be made by 18th June 2010.
