NESTA has launched another round of its mentoring scheme for creative sector companies.
Now in its 2nd year, their Creative Business Mentor Network offers up and coming firms the chance to learn from some of the industry’s leading names.
The year-long programme allows participating businesses to receive monthly advice and support from a number of mentors, including Peter Bazalgett of New Baz Limited, Charles Wace, chief executive of Twofour Communications, and Patrick McKenna, chief executive of Ingenious Media Group.
NESTA research has revealed that more than half of the senior management teams in creative companies haven’t had any formal business development training, and Jonathan Kestenbaum, the group’s chief executive, hopes the programme would help them to pick up vital hints and tips.
He said:
“The UK's vibrant creative sector will play a substantial role in the growth of our economy over the next few years.
“The mentors are amongst the most respected business leaders from the creative industry and their expertise will help guide our most promising companies so that they can make a real impact in the marketplace.”
The scheme is open to creative businesses in the TV production, advertising, film, video games, design, animation, music, digital media or publishing sectors.
Interested companies must have been established for at least three years and generate revenues in excess of £250,000.
Applications to take part in the latest wave of the initiative must be made by 30 June.
