The latest round of a £1 million fund to build alternative fuel filling stations and electric car recharging points is open for a few more weeks.
Final applications to the Department for Transport’s Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Grant Programme must be made by 30 July.
The scheme, which is run by the Centre of Excellence for Low Carbon and Fuel Cell Technologies (Cenex), can help public and private sector organisations develop the infrastructure required to increase the use of alternative fuels, such as hydrogen, electricity, and biogas.
It can cover the costs of installing charging points for electric vehicles and building new refuelling stations for hydrogen, natural gas or biomethane-powered cars.
The Government hopes the fund will help to create an alternative fuels infrastructure across the UK and encourage more motorists to switch to lower carbon vehicles.
Grants can cover up to 50% of the eligible project costs, such as buying new equipment and construction or civil engineering charges.
