A Hartlepool company has secured an investment of £70,000 from UK Steel Enterprise. EnPlus Solutions has also taken on additional office space at UKSE’s Innovation Centre on the Queens Meadow Business Park to house its five-strong team and expects to create at least three further jobs over the next couple of years.
EnPlus Solutions provides a range of recyclable and compostable products to replace plastic that includes cups, lids, bags, wrapping and cutlery and to reduce the 2.8 tonnes of plastic waste the UK produces annually.
Set up by Chris Burton and Peter Carr as a division of Duraflex Agency Ltd, EnPlus Solutions supplies caterers, businesses, local authorities and wholesalers in the UK and is hoping to clinch a 2012 Olympic contract.
This is the second investment from UK Steel Enterprise as Duraflex Agency, a supplier of eco-friendly raw materials including a synthetic paper produced from rock, secured a £50,000 finance package in 2008.
“We saw the potential of moving into providing finished products as well as raw materials and needed further finance to establish and expand EnPlus Solutions,” said Mr Burton. “We want to provide 100% environmentally-friendly products at a price that doesn’t prevent companies from going green.”
“We went back to UK Steel Enterprise for backing because they helped us earlier at a crucial time when we were finding it difficult to secure finance and accommodation. Now thanks to this latest investment, we can move forward again.”
Simon Hamilton, regional manager for UK Steel Enterprise, said: “With this second investment in place and the additional office space they need in our Innovation Centre, EnPlus Solutions is now well placed to take full advantage of the demand for its innovative products.”
