Service Network: Giving your Business the Non Business Edge - Corporate Social Responsibility However, CSR not communicated in the right way is a waste, especially in tough economic times. A well thought out integrated CSR programme will have positive benefits for key business areas including HR, marketing, production and business development.

Service Network is delighted to welcome international CSR expert John Luff and two locally based businesses, Sage (UK) Limited and Explain, to this event to discuss the importance of integrated CSR programmes. John Luff specialises in helping organisations identify and promote their brand and CSR and sustainability credentials. He is a frequent speaker worldwide on the topics of brand, marketing, CSR, sustainability and communications and has worked as Head of Global CSR and Head of Global Brand for BT (British Telecom).

John’s presentation, ‘Corporate Social Responsibility, Marketing and Brand Are Inseparable’ explores the practicalities of integrating CSR into everyday business activities. The objective is to help attendees identify their wider CSR credentials (economic and societal not just their “green” credentials) and communicate these internally and externally in order to:

• get ‘buy in’ from the whole of the company – every employee should understand the importance of CSR to the business and themselves

• achieve stronger relationships with all stakeholders

• identify, organise and promote credentials with integrity

• build brand equity

• and get more, long term, sustainable business

Sage will then take to the stage to discuss their CSR programme which has seen their Chief Executive, Paul Walker, being awarded with the 2009 Prince's Ambassador Award at the Business in the Community Awards.

Their CSR Consultant, Leigh Thompson, will talk about the company’s volunteering programme and support of local voluntary groups, community groups and local schools, some of the things they do internally for their people and their approach to being ‘green’.
