Former head of manufacturing and engineering at the Fujitsu plant in Newton Aylciffe has set up a consultancy business specialising in Operations Management. John Hague is using his experience gained from Fujitsu, Philips and local SMEs to work alongside regional businesses to help them grow and become more profitable.
“I’ve always been passionate about manufacturing since my school days and the opportunity of working with North East businesses to help them grow is fantastic. I’ve always fought to keep manufacturing jobs in the region – even when the Fujitsu factory reached the end of its life I spent considerable time visiting local companies to get the staff re-employed so this excellent resource wasn’t wasted. We have such a huge amount of skill and talent in this region – we need to do everything we can to make sure it is used before we lose it.”
John’s company, neops (abrev of North East Operations) specialises in producing highly responsive lean operations. He believes the companies that are prospering in the region are providing their customers with such a high quality product with such rapid response to demand they would not contemplate going overseas for their supply.
